Day Two

Today is Kylee’s birthday and the kindy kids brought tears to her eyes singing Happy Birthday with great enthusiasm. The morning work was focussed on ensuring the poles were level and straight ready for the concrete. The kindy students joined our kids in cleaning tyres and then Makelesi and Vika took the kids and Kylee on a wander through the village. A fantastic traditional lunch of roti and curry was enjoyed by all. We commenced painting – with lots of helpers. Finally the concrete truck arrived – a far better option than mixing it ourselves in the heat. The local boys were on hand to assist with the heavy work. Geoff was amazed at the way barrow loads of concrete were moved like they were loaves of bread! Our reward at the end of the day – icy-poles and a swim and a cold drink.
