Not a great start to
the day today. We decided to take the whole team into town to collect some
extra bolts and things – bad decision. Nothing happens in a hurry here and so a
vanload of hot cranky kids. The morning didn’t get much better – nits were
discovered, drill bits were broken, the camcorder stopped working, our first
(and only) minor injury occurred (a bruised hand). One of the local blokes started up the angle
grinder with no warning – causing a fast getaway for Sarah and Kylee!
The day improved
after lunch, with two pieces of play equipment completed. The kids went for a
nice long walk collecting flowers along the way, which kept them busy and
allowed the adults to get stuck into the job at hand. In true community spirit,
all hands on deck today. Students, mothers, teachers, and unemployed youth
joined in. We are also grateful for the assistance of QLD expat Suzanne who
joined us for the day.
Jacqui almost had to
relocate rooms upon arrival home due to an incredible stench…..which turned out
to be the neighbours dying their hair with homemade hair dye, allegedly made from
chicken pooh extract.
